Greek literature summer courses
Arethousa, Ikaria

The Greek Literature summer courses are intended for adults who are speakers of modern Greek as a second language, and who can understand a literary text in Greek as well as discuss the text and express their opinion about it, again in Greek.  During the course we will look at excerpts from literary texts and poems chosen from Greek literature of the 20th century.  The aim of the course is both the enrichment of vocabulary and an increased facility in expression for each student, as well as an increased knowledge of Greek authors and trends in Greek literature.  A better understanding of Greek history and culture is an additional benefit.

Accommodation and everyday life

Accommodation and every day life

Ikaria, classified as a blue zone, a place where people live longer, is a small mountainous and green island in the middle of Aegean, still not in the lists of the main tourist destinations. Someone can reach the island with a ferry or plane from Athens, and the plane from Thessaloniki.

Students and teachers stay in a family atmosphere on-campus, in a rural area 1,5 Km away the mountainous village of Arethousa. So, there is plenty of time after the lessons for socializing and little chat in Greek. Students can have a private or a shared studio. Depending on the mood of students and teachers, afternoon and evening excursions are organized in nearby beaches or taverns. A car is available to students, to go to the beach and to explore the island as they want. More...
