Conversation classes are organized in small groups of 2-3 students. Each lesson lasts 2 hours (120 minutes). You can enroll in one or more conversation classes, depending on your schedule. We focus on developing speaking skills, so in conversation classes students come prepared to speak on a topic. Mistakes are corrected by the teacher and at the end of the lesson relevant grammar is suggested for study, depending on the mistakes students make, also some vocabulary games are done for better understanding / consolidation of the vocabulary that appears in the lesson.
Levels
Conversation classes are organized into levels depending on the ability of students to quickly or slowly develop their thoughts in Greek. There are three main levels of conversation classes:
- Students at early levels for early discussions: For students who can communicate orally in Greek, but still have significant difficulties in presenting themselves, their work, telling about what they did on a trip or what they plan to do in the future and want to gain more experience in this.
- Students at early – intermediate levels, for intermediate level conversations: For students who CANNOT speak with SPEED, EASE and ACCURACY, but can present themselves, talk about their past and their plans for the future, and want to practice trying to talk about abstract topics. The conversations flow slowly, as students have difficulty finding the right words quickly.
- Students at intermediate – advanced levels, for conversations with advanced level vocabulary: For students who speak with relative EASE, ACCURACY and SPEED, but need more practice and expansion of their vocabulary. The discussions flow at an almost normal pace, as students can speak relatively quickly although they lack vocabulary.
And what if I don’t choose the right level?
If you haven’t taken a class with us recently, you should log in to the class 15 minutes before the start of the lesson. You will have a short discussion with the teacher who will decide if you can participate in the specific class, otherwise the teacher will suggest another class that is more suitable for you. If you have taken a class with us in the last year and we think you should change the conversation class you have registered in, we will inform you. If you don’t have any information, this means that you can participate in the class. No need for evaluation prior the beginning of the class is necessary.
How do I register?
Conversation classes are announced no later than the 1st of the month for the month after (e.g. January 1st is the later announcement of classes for March). You are free to choose as many conversation classes as you wish, depending on your skills and your schedule. See the classes that are already scheduled below. If there are vacancies, after your registration your place is guaranteed. There is also the possibility of booking on a waiting list. If the course is full but a student cancels up to 48 hours before the course, you will be able to take this place.
Cost
Each course costs 60 Euros. For participation in more than 2 courses in a calendar month (1-30 of each month), there is a 20% discount starting from the 3rd course of the month. That is, the third and subsequent courses within the same calendar month cost 48 Euros / course
Payments / cancellations
Each course is paid immediately after its end. You can cancel the course 48 hours in advance without cost, but if you cancel within 48 hours before the course you will have to pay the cost.
Connection times in the conversation class
The connection times are different for students who are taking a class with us for the first time and for those who have taken classes with us in the last year.
- New student assessment: If you have not taken a class with us again in the last year, make sure to connect at the time shown in the schedule as the start of the class. During the first 15 minutes, the teacher assesses the level of the new students and decides whether they can participate in the class or not.
- Start of the actual lesson. The class starts for all students 15 minutes after the time shown in the schedule as the start of the class
- Duration of the class: The class lasts 2 hours (60 minutes): It starts 15 minutes after the time shown in the schedule as the start of the class and ends fifteen minutes before the time shown in the schedule as the end of the class. These last 15 min are necessary for the teacher to get ready for the next class.
