7 days hiking & olive picking in Ikaria

7 days of hiking in the mountains of Ikaria. Combine Greek language lessons with hiking tours or a simple stay at the Center’s guesthouse and participate in our hiking tours in the mountains of the area. The location of the Center, outside the settlements, on a hillside not far from the sea and in direct contact with the natural environment is ideal for short or longer hiking excursions. On the autumn hikes you will also have the opportunity to participate in olive picking

Α typical day

  • 9:00 – 11:00 Greek language lessons (for those who want to participate in Greek lessons)
  • 11:00 – 16:00 Hiking on the trails of the area, visits to artisans, traditional dance lessons and other activities
  • 19:00 Dinner
  • 20:00 – 21:30: activities (film screenings, discussions and games)

Cost

For the cost, advice the reservation calendar below. The cost covers accommodation in a private room. 2 simple meals and local transport are also offered for free. All rooms have a private bathroom, kitchenette and heating. Each guest has a private room. If you share your room with a co-traveler, there is no discount.

Accommodation

Accommodation is at the Center guesthouse, just outside the settlement of Arethousa, in Ikaria. The place is ideal for hiking as it is located approximately in the center of the island, in the middle of nature. From the guesthouse you can enjoy a fantastic view of the mountain and the sea, the colors of the sky, some sunsets with the sun setting into the sea that will remain unforgettable, the sunrise and the moon from the top of the mountain above the guesthouse and the galaxy with thousands of stars in the sky on starry nights. You can also see birds of prey flying above your head while you are taking lessons. Each student has his own room.

Combine a hiking week with Greek language lessons

You can combine guided hikes in the mountains of the area with Greek language lessons.
Cost: 1295 Euros / person, with accommodation in a private room, 2 simple meals Monday to Friday and local transportation. Each student / guest has their own room. If necessary, you can share your room with your travel companion, but there is no discount on the cost.

– April 26 – May 3, 2026 / November 1 – 7, 2026: For students who cannot read or write Greek
– May 3 – 10, 2026 / November 7 – 14, 2026: For students with basic knowledge who can only speak in the present tense
– November 14-21 & 21-19, 2026: For students of all other levels.

Stay in our guesthouse for one of the following weeks and join the guided hikes we organize in the mountains of the area. No need to participate in the language courses taking place at that moment.
– In spring: April 26 – May 3, 2026, May 3-10, 2026.
– In November: November 1-7, 7-14, 14-21 & 21-19, 2026
