Greek language courses – Levels

Although the classes for our Greek language courses are created after the arrival of students, from now on we would like to have a first assessment of your level before confirming your participation in the course. Therefore, you should choose one of the levels below that seems closest to your abilities and needs. Please note that the maximum number of students / class is 4 students.

The dates of participation for each level may vary. The dates are not fixed, they may change depending on the interest of the students for each period / level. Therefore, if the level and dates are good for you, it is good to book your participation immediately. It is possible that later you will not find the same dates for the specific level.

If you have difficulties choosing the appropriate level, contact us.

1- Reading & writing in Greek

I cannot read/write using the Greek alphabet. I also cannot form simple sentences using a verb in the present tense. Make sure you cannot read the text / understand and answer some of the questions. If by the time you join the course you will be able to read and understand the questions or if you know ancient Greek, which means you are familiar with the alphabet and the declension of verbs of the ancient language, you should probably move on to the next level (Living in the Present!).

2- Living in the present!

For those who have a very limited vocabulary and can only speak using simple sentences in the present tense. If you choose this level, make sure you can read the text and understand the questions. If you cannot read the text and understand at least 50% of the questions, it is better to come to the beginner level (Reading and Writing)

3- In the past and the future

Choose this course if you can talk about the past and future, BUT you still have difficulty saying what happened in a film you recently saw and why you liked/disliked that film. To participate in this course, make sure you can understand the story and can answer the questions.

4- Making stories

I can explain with accuracy and relative ease what happened in a film I saw a while ago, and also explain why I liked or disliked it. I also understand these questions and the story very well, but I need to work harder to answer questions like these and not make mistakes like these.

5- Listening to the TV news

I understand and can answer most questions with ease. I also understand some mistakes in sentences. Now I need more vocabulary, grammar and practice to start understanding newspapers and watching debates and news on Greek television.

6- Perfecting and refreshing

I understand quite well what the economist is saying about the drachma, I want to take a refresher course with texts and discussions at this level.
