Winter Lessons (2027)

This specialized long-term winter program combines our standard intensive Greek language courses with an immersive journey into Greece’s deep cultural roots. Alongside your daily classroom lessons, you will live and participate with locals during the famous Ikarian Carnival, experience the unique traditions of Clean Monday, and discover the authentic winter lifestyle of the island.

Live the Traditions: The Great Celebrations of March

The major holidays of March that we will experience alongside our classes:

• Sunday, March 14 — The Ikarian Carnival in Evdilos: Experience the dionysian atmosphere, the joy, and the authentic satirical performances of the locals. We will explore the traditions behind the Greek Carnival (Apokries) and join the island’s celebrations together.
• Monday, March 15 — Clean Monday (Kathari Deftera): We welcome Lent with “Koulouma”. We will share a traditional fasting feast featuring lagana bread, seafood, and local delicacies, and join in flying kites against the backdrop of the Aegean Sea.
• Thursday, March 25 — National Holiday & Annunciation: Celebrate the historic March 25th National Day alongside the locals. We will attend local events, learn about Greek history, and enjoy the traditional meal of the day (bakaliaros skordalia / cod with garlic dip).

What the 3-Week Course Includes

We offer a complete, all-inclusive learning and accommodation experience:

• Language Courses: Daily intensive Greek lessons (Monday – Saturday) for all proficiency levels in small, homogeneous classes (up to 4 students).
• Experience Stays: 3 weeks (20 nights) at our peaceful guesthouse, featuring self-catering kitchenettes and breathtaking views.
• Meals & Tradition: Participation in the festive community tables (Carnival, Clean Monday, March 25) and simple daily meals (except on Thursdays and weekends).
• Local Transportation: Full coverage of transfers from/to Ikaria’s airport or port, as well as all organized excursions for the holidays.
• Parallel Activities: Spring hikes in Ikaria’s blooming nature, traditional dance lessons, and cultural discussions or lectures.

The course runs from March 7 to March 28, 2027 (3 weeks), but you can also choose to enroll only for the first two weeks (March 7 to March 21). Check availability and submit your registration.
